In February 2014, we (Heinz Wanner, Gabi Hegerl and myself) did the last interview with the late formidable Tom Crowley. It has now been published in the Newsletter "Dust" of PAGES (No. 22, 1145-115)
His web-page at U Edinburgh is still running; we will try to transfer it to another provider to make sure that it can be read also in future.

The link to the "Dust" newsletter seems to be broken. This one works:

Nice interview and very sad circumstances. I share his fascination of snowball earth. On first sight it seems like an unbelievable miracle that earth always had conditions with liquid water despite of dramatic changes in TSI an quite different atmospheres.
Thanks, Tom Crowley, for your work.

Thanks, Andreas - link is corrected. - Hans
ReplyDeletePS:
ReplyDeleteThe interview is well hidden at (pdf)page 58 (document page 114) after loads of dust. ;-)

I wonder how the formulation "in the Royal Navy" made it into the text - it was the US Navy, of course.
