Flashmob against Climate Change

Germany's most politically correct family soap, Lindenstrasse, features in its latest edition a teenage protest action against climate change. Using the new opportunities offered by Facebook, a young female protagonist mobilizes a nation wide flashmob. You can watch it here (the action starts around 22mins into it)

I think this clip reflects Germans' mood about the issue pretty well.

What is the opinion of Klimazwiebel on the articles in Bild yesterday and today ("CO2-Luege")?

Prof Weber, the author of the article, had a comment on Klimazwiebel some time ago, see here

I don't know about the youth of the nation but ...

"Only 31 percent of Germans are still afraid of global warming. In 2006 it was exactly twice as many. And now a heavy weight has reinforced the ranks of the non-believers. Vahrenholt, one of the fathers of the German environmental movement, no longer trusts the predictions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). And neither does he accept the scenarios of the Potsdam Institute which has been raising the alarm about the climate change for years and advises Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Minister for the Environment"

BILD versus Lindenstraße: welcome to German popular culture!

Einmal hier:

KlimaluegeI
und hier die Fortsetzung
KlimaluegeII

Wow, Vahrenholt's book sounds like a good collation of all alternative hypotheses that have been thrown around, regardless of whether they contradict each other or not (it's the sun! And GCRs! But the ocean, too!).

And so that it is clear to everyone, Hans von Storch and Eduardo Zorita are apparently also lying (considering you two also have claimed CO2 is the main driver of current climate change, if I remember correctly, that is!).

achgut.com is not a really reliable source. It is interesting how they describe Fritz Vahrenholt... not as RWE Manager, Aurubis (people from Hamburg know this company) board member, etc. No, as one father of the environmental movement. Furthermore, they give only the most aggressive claims of Vahrenholt. Funny, but wrong.

BUT, one has to see Vahrenholts claims in a detailed way. His claims about climate research are wrong and boring. He does not correctly represent the works about Methane, Black Carbon, Sun-Climate links, temperature trends, etc. I do not care. But, he also says: renewable energies are right. Not, because of the climate change danger, but because scarce resources, common health, other environmental issues. He says, we must not panic, but do it in a consequent but controlled way. I agree with him, like everyone at the PIK, IPCC, or GKSS or in the Web. Or Jim Hansen, for example.

It is an interesting fact, that many climate protection actions are actually good for the environment, public health, and economy. Yeah, the investment costs are maybe high, but it is sustainable.

IMHO, climate science wise Vahrenholt says nothing. He tries to stir a controversy about nothing. He sees big problems where no problems are at all. But, his opinions about energy production in the future might be interesting. Vahrenholt is an energy manager, he does know a lot about this. But, he does not know a lot about climate science.

Well, achgut does not say this. achgut is a politically motivated, one-sided, dumb web site. It is boring. AND I AM A BRODER FANBOY. At least, I was.

"He wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell."

@9

Reiner,

Oh nein, Klausi verhaftet, wegen Kinderpornos!

Niemals.
